Disney Dance Camp (Ages 6 to 10)
Join us for a fun-filled week and become your favorite Disney characters, as we learn jazz, tap, ballet, hip-hop and musical theatre dance to popular Disney songs (Hannah Montana, Lion King, Aladdin and more)! Our day includes dancing, dress up, story time, and crafts. During the last half hour of the final class, the camp will end with a performance for parents, where dancers perform a fun, animated Disney routine.

A Bug's Life Nature Camp (Ages 5 to High School)
Spend 3 days splashing through Potter Run and the Spring Pond on PAA's grounds with Mr. Chuck, a Penn State Biology Grad and former Biology and Entomology research assistant. Learn about the life of a stream by capturing May flies, Caddis Flies and their nymphs, crayfish, fish and maybe a frog or two! Learn about the food they eat and where they live in the stream. with some special help from the Clearwater Conservancy, we'll find out just how healthy the water in our stream and spring are!

Rock and Roll Band Camp
Our most popular camp of the summer, Rock & Roll Band camp is your chance to star in a real rock band, on stage in front of a live audience! We're looking for guitar players, bass players, drummers, singers and keyboard players with some training or experience. Musicians are placed into rock bands according to level and musical interest, and they are given four weeks to learn their music and rehearse under the guidance of Chuck Mason, professional lead guitarist and singer. A final rock concert celebration for all bands, complete with a full PA system on stage, will be held on Saturday, July 21st in the Mount Nittany Middle School Auditorium!

Students must have their own instruments.  Please note that beginning students will be accepted although the material that they will be able to play will be very limited.  This camp is not intended for students who have never played an instrument before. Band Camp includes:

  • One 1-hour lesson covering music and material for rehearsals and performance.
  • Four 1-hour rehearsal times for bands under the supervision and guidance of Chuck Mason.

  • Stage performance with PA system for friends, family and other guests.

  • Week of June 25th
    Private lesson for each musician scheduled individually throughout the week
     

  • Week of July 2nd - Rehearsals: Each musician will rehearse with their band for 2 one-hour sessions. These will be scheduled for an hour slot between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 pm on two different days during the week.  Rehearsals are mandatory with no exceptions made.
     

  • Week of July 9th - Practice Week for students to work on material at home
     

  • Week of July 16th - Rehearsals (2 one-hour rehearsals)
     

  • Saturday, July 21st - Final Concert @ Mt. Nittany Middle School Auditorium

Pirate Camp (Ages 6 to 10)
Calling all hearty lads and lasses who wish to pillage and plunder, during a week of hullabaloo and rowdy fun! Come learn about the real life of a pirate, from swordfights to hidden treasures. Daily arts & crafts and a swordfight demonstration for parents on Friday! At any time, campers might find themselves fencing, treasure hunting, singing shanties (pirate songs), learning a pirate jig, or having piratey (although temproary) tattoos applied!

Shakespeare on the Green Production Workshop (Ages 10+)
Perform in a live Shakespeare production, a great opportunity for everyone from the young novice to the Bard's most experienced fans! All participants will be cast in speaking roles, with our final production performed in a fabulous outdoor event! All levels of experience welcome. Selection(s) will be determined based on number of participants, experience level, etc., and they may be chosen from: Taming of the Shrew, Hamlet, Midsummer Night's Dream, Much Ado About Nothing, Macbeth, Twelfth Night, The Tempest, King Richard III, and Romeo & Juliet. Directed by Sarah Mason, founding member of Chicago's Guerrilla Shakespeare Troupe.

Tap Intensive (Levels 2 and up)
This year's tap intensive explores the legends and styles of the most famous "hoofers" of all time- Gregory Hines, Jimmy Slyde, Buster Brown, Dianne Walker, Steve Condos, and more! Dancers also jam with live musicians who may drop in occasionally. Don't miss this concentrated study with Sarah Mason, one of the finest tap instructors and coaches in the U.S.! (Includes Broadway Tap class in Session 3.)

Princess Camp (Ages 4 to 7)
Join us for a week full of royal fun! Girls become a part of fairytale magic, as we dance to our favorite princess music, such as Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and other fairytale songs. Our day includes dancing, dress up, story time, princess crafts, etiquette lessons and more! At the end of our last day, there will be a tea party with the "Queen Mothers" and special performance for parents, where they can watch their princesses perform a beautiful and magical routine.
